This episode of HOG's Featured Band Podcast spotlights the Buffalo, NY based Slice the Mic Snatcha. Hip/Hop and Rap are not my forte', but I love what Slice the Mic Snatcha is doing. Slice has a way of writing that feels like it is really coming from his heart and soul. It simply compels me to listen. He fills his music with deep emotion and depth without ever sounding weak. When rapping about family, love, and getting what you are due; he does so with great intellect and passion. In the interview we discuss his roots as a battle rapper and how he has transitions into something deeper. For Slice's musical selections we play "You Gotta" and "Get That Money". Check out his tunes on his MySpace site. Download The Audio Interview With Slice the Mic Snatcha Click Here To Listen Now! Interested in being considered for a Featured Band interview? Read This. |

For this episode of HOG's Featured Band Podcast, we spotlight the band Soulfound. Their manager first brought Soulfound to my attention. She, as one would expect, was very high on the band. As a result, I approached the band with a very critical ear. I am pleased to say she knows what she is talking about. From the very first note I was hooked. The amount of care and craftsmanship found in their tunes is rare for an "unsigned band". It is clear that every member of the band is a master of his art as the musical composition is excellent. Their music is filled with raw power, soul, and just the right amount of emotion. Why these guys are not signed yet, I have no idea. They have officially taken over the (currently fictional) title of "House Band" (the unofficial title belonged to TheSpeaks before, but the reign had to end some time). In the audio interview we play "Win Over You" and "The Boy". You can get their music from iTunes or through the official website . Be sure to check out their MySpace site too. The audio of the interview is a bit off in places, but please take a listen and, hopefully, I will be able to get another interview with the band at a later date. For the this episode of HOG's Featured Band Podcast, we spotlight the San Fran' band Griddle. My interview was with Kevin who plays keys for the band. Kevin is a really cool dude and a pleasure to talk with. Griddle's music is at times funky, sometimes really progressive, even kinda new-wave-ish, but it is always unique. In the audio interview we play "Berle" and "Loss For Words" to whet your musical appitite. You can get Griddle's CDs at CD Baby or the official website.

For this episode of HOG's Featured Band Podcast, we spotlight the band aNDY. I had the pleasure of interviewing 4 of the members of this young kick-ass band (only Nick, the drummer, was missing - he was last seen playing for in traffic). I first heard aNDY in downtown St. Pete while attending a gig for The Reverse Engineers . As I explained in the audio interview, at first I was way too close to the stage for the venue acoustics. After moving back the sound began to separate and I could fully appreciate the craftsmanship and technique of each of the individual members. I can honestly say that I was blown away. Their sound is unique; so much so that I am not even going to try and describe it, you just need to hear it. When I saw them perform live I was especially impressed with the amount of energy they put out for the very small crowd. They left it all on the stage and left myself and those I was with wanting just a little more (which is exactly how it should be). These guys were great fun to talk to and deserve a listen, if only to find out what "Die Hard", Tetris, "Wayne's World" and Kelly Clarkson all have in common. In the audio interview we play "Tetris" and "Calm Waters". You can get their music from iTunes or (soon) through the official website. Be sure to check out their MySpace site too. For the latest edition of HOG's Featured Band Podcast, we are spotlighting the LA based solo artist: Chance . I had a great time talking with Chance. He is a very frank and open dude (and the fact that he is a Seminoles fan doesn't hurt either). His music is tough to describe. I guess you could call it alt-pop-rock-funk, but that would do it a disservice, so let's just call it "fun and musically provocative". His songs are catchy with hooks that will stick with you for hours after listening to his tunes. Seriously, check out his tunes - they are very cool. In the audio interview we play "Man On A Mission" and "Hip-Hop High" (a personal favorite) for your listening pleasure. You can get Chance's CDs at his official website , CD Baby, or even iTunes.
